Welcome aboard our Christchurch Tramway – it’s a unique venue experience for cocktail functions, dinner packages plus much more.
Imagine your guests boarding the beautifully restored Christchurch Trams for an evening of fun, fine dining and conviviality! What better way to get people together for a social occasion than on a romantic, quirky restored electric tram as it rumbles along the tracks in the South Island’s largest city. The ever-changing views are complemented by your tram driver’s commentary as you pass buildings old and new, historic and remarkable – such as the Christchurch Cathedral with its echoes of English Victorian architecture, or the soaring glass curtain of the new Christchurch Art Gallery.
For smaller numbers, the Christchurch Tramway Restaurant is a superb venue for that special event or function. Christchurch Tramway can tailor-make a function to suit your specific requirements. Just ask us – we’ll be delighted to develop a menu and theme to suit your needs. We can provide breakfasts, lunches and dinners for groups.
We have held many different functions including 'The Great Tram Robbery', live musical entertainment, product launches and much more. We can assist you with theming the tram so that your function can be truly unique and memorable. We can serve you cocktails and snacks, or a delicious package meal featuring the best of local produce, all prepared with flair and imagination! As part of a larger event, you can use the tram as a special feature, travelling from one venue to another in style, with drinks and nibbles on the way!

Cocktail Hour Experience (Cocktail Functions)
Board an exclusive private tram and enjoy the beautiful inner city as you trundle through the tree lined streets of Christchurch. Relax in a restored heritage tram as you enjoy the live entertaining commentary or background music. Mouth watering selections of bite sized canapés and a selection of beverages will ensure that a good time is had by all. This is a uniquely Christchurch pre-dinner experience. We can cater for 20 to 220 people.
Cocktail Hour and Dinner Packages
Enjoy the best of both worlds and reserve a cocktail hour and dinner package. Combine the unique Christchurch Tramway cocktail hour with dinner at one of Christchurch's leading restaurants on the tram circuit. We can cater for 20-80 people for this package.
