Tram TourOur heritage Christchurch trams operate over a 2.5 km track that runs through central Christchurch. Get on and off the tram at any of the stops, and rejoin any tram later.
Tickets last for two consecutive days, and can be bought online, at the Tram Station or from your friendly conductor when you board the tram.

Tram Stops
Stop 1: Cathedral Square
Surrounded by cafes, hotels and banks, Cathedral Square sits right in the Heart of downtown Christchurch. Hop off here to enjoy photo opportunities with the Christchurch Cathedral, the striking First World War Memorial, Neil Dawson’s “Chalice” sculpture and man-sized chess, as well as markets, open air food kiosks, the Town Crier and all the colourful characters who inhabit the Square.
Stop 2: Worcester Bridge
Stop here for Punting on the Avon and cafes and bars on Christchurch’s Oxford Terrace, known as “The Strip”.
Stop 3: Art Gallery
Visit Christchurch’s stunning new public art gallery, to see New Zealand and international artworks, and visit the Gallery shop or the café/restaurant.
Stop 4: Art Centre
This inner city heritage site, housed in the former Christchurch University buildings, hosts a multitude of art galleries, shops, a small theatre, cafes and restaurant. Weekend markets are held in the grounds, with buskers and other street entertainers.
Stop 5: Clock Tower
The Canterbury Museum and Botanic Gardens are well worth a visit. The Museum hosts touring exhibitions as well as having an excellent permanent collection. The Botanic Gardens, established in 1863, has one of the finest collections of exotic and native plants in the country, including many trees that date back to the close of the 19th century.
Stop 6: Hagley Park
Christchurch’s celebrated inner city park. Walks, golf, Lake Victoria and the beautiful English-style stone buildings of Christ’s College.
Stop 7: Cranmer Square
Stroll down to Victoria Street and speciality shops from this stop.
Stop 8: Casino
Here you can catch the bus to the Christchurch Gondola, visit the Old Provincial chambers or stroll to the celebrated Casino!
Stop 9: Victoria Square
The river Avon flows through this charming little park, close to the Duty Free stores and historic buildings. Watch the punts go by on the river while you eat an alfresco lunch.
Stop 10 New Regent Street
One of the earliest purpose-built shopping malls in the country, New Regent St is built in Spanish mission style and dates back to the 1930s. Enjoy browsing in the many speciality shops housed in the colourful restored buildings, or just relax with a coffee in one of the many sidewalk cafes as the trams go by.
Stop 11: Tram Station
The final stop on the route is the Tram Station at Cathedral Junction. Here you can browse for souvenirs, book a Punt or Gondola ride, or just enjoy the shops and cafes in New Regent St.
